Welcome!

Visiting a church for the first time can be a confusing, intimidating, and sometimes even scary. Being unfamiliar with the church layout can be confusing and difficult to figure out, so finding things like the restrooms, or figuring out where you are supposed to go for the worship service can be more difficult than it should be. Hopefully, we can help you answer some questions you may have so you feel at ease when visiting us for the first time. If for some reason, you have a question you can’t find the answer to, please contact Pastor Jan Kaatz, who would be more than happy to answer your questions!

WHAT IS BURBANK SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH?

Burbank Church is a community of people who are trying to fulfill their mission:

Learning how to belong to our church family.
Growing our relationship with God.
Applying our God given talents.
Sharing the Good News.
Worshipping passionately and joyfully.

Simply put, we are committed to helping people live the lives God created them to live by establishing and deepening their relationship with God while making vital connections with other people. For more specific information about the foundational theology of the church, please examine the “What We Believe” part of the website.

WHY WOULD I WANT TO TRY BURBANK SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH?

If you ever wondered if there is something more to life than what you are currently living, or if you have ever thought that something was missing, Burbank Seventh-day Adventist Church is the place to explore a relationship with God with people just like you.

WHAT TIME ARE THE SERVICES?

We offer two Saturday morning worship services. The first service begins at 9:45 a.m., the second service begins at 11:00 a.m. and generally ends around Noon. The first service is an Adult Sabbath School class that is discussion based and uses the Sabbath School Quarterly as its basis. The second service a mix of contemporary and traditional elements. Our worship services are upbeat, highly spiritual, and very practical.  They are designed so that you know what is happening and can participate with any part you are comfortable.

Join us for simple refreshments after we worship to allow time to make new friends and catch up before heading home. Also, on the third Saturday of each month we have a potluck style meal in our Fellowship Hall.  You are cordially invited to enjoy lunch with us!

WHERE DO I GO ONCE I GET THERE?

Our church is on a busy street so it is very easy to speed past the entrance to the parking lot.  We are located about three blocks north of Alameda.  As you drive north you will see a Baptist church then a small apartment building.  We are just past the apartments but before the end of the block. When you arrive at Burbank Seventh-day Adventist Church, you’ll enter the parking lot and you will see several parking spaces reserved for guests and would be honored if you would take one.  After parking, walk past the three huge trees in our courtyard towards the main doors.  There you will be greeted by a warm hosts/hostess and handed a program.  Continue into the Worship Center and sit where you are most comfortable. We hope you will make yourself at home.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

At Burbank Seventh-day Adventist feel free to dress as you would like. Half of the people here will be dressed in a business casual and the other half will dress casually. A few will have ties and a few will be in shorts (when it is warm enough). You certainly will never need to buy special clothes just so you can attend our church, so come knowing that your wardrobe will never be an issue for you. Come as you are!

WHAT IS A “NORMAL” SABBATH LIKE?

We begin the morning with some music as people gather. This is a good time to have a conversation with friends and meet some new ones. There will be a welcome at the beginning and a closing prayer at the end. In between, you will have the opportunity to sing, listen to a relevant message, pray, reflect, or just sit back and take it all in. At Burbank Seventh-day Adventist Church, you will never be asked to participate in our worship service in a way that makes you uncomfortable.

IS BURBANK SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH PART OF A DENOMINATION?

The short answer is yes. Burbank Seventh-day Adventist Church is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. However, the people who make up this community of faith come from diverse backgrounds. All are welcome.

WILL BURBANK SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH HAVE A _______?

There are many questions about the kinds of ministries the church will have in the future. The answer really depends on you. We hope to meet the needs of the community while empowering each member of the church to find and use the gifts God has given them.
