Vision Statement

The Burbank Seventh-day Adventist Church is

where the non-Christian can find Christ

and the un-churched may find a home.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10, MABEL DUNCAN, “RESTORING YOUR SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE,” 11:00 AM

Have you ever thought of someone with an adventurous spirit as a person of faith? Have you ever thought of taking a risk as an act of faith? This might be your opportunity to look at risk taking and adventure seeking in a brand new light. Come prepared to allow God to show you the other side of the story.

TUESDAY STUDY GROUP, “IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF PAUL,” COMMUNITY ROOM, 7:00 – 8:30PM

Last week we saw how the Apostle Paul was directed to be a light for the Gentiles.  This week we will see the presentation, "When Paul Got Stoned."  Each of the twenty episodes has a four-color study guide designed to review and broaden our understanding of the material presented and to make application of the teachings personal.  These study guides are limited to the first 20 participants.  There is still opportunity to join this fascinating series.

BUILDING FOR LIFE – TIME TO BUILD

Last Saturday Pastor Kaatz announced in his sermon that "we will be attempting to raise $175,000.00 by December 8th of this year in cash contributions and three-year commitments."  Raising that kind of money for our church will take a miracle, so he went on to share with us how to prepare for a miracle.  If you would like a copy of this sermon email him at pastor@burbanksda.com

In the next 7-10 days every member and regular attendee will be visited by a two-person team from our Lay Pastor staff.  They will be coming, upon your approval, to share some materials with you about our Building For Life program.  They will also be asking you, how the Burbank church can better meet your needs.  Pastor Kaatz encourages each member to open their homes for this 15-20 minute visit.  It should be really fun.

CHRISTMAS BANQUET, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2, COMMUNITY ROOM, 4:30PM

This is a free banquet for all our members and friends who regularly attend.  We have one requirement - you need to sign up!!  You can do this after the worship service for the next two weeks, or you can send an email to adminstration@burbanksda.com.  Please be sure to include your name and the number of people in your party in the email.

A NOTE OF THANKS

My family and I are truly grateful to the staff and members of the Burbank Seventh-day Adventist church for your prayers, calls, cards, flowers, and every act of kindness shown to me during my recent illness. May the grace of God, the love of Jesus Christ the Son, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit continue to abide with you now and forever!

Sincerely & gratefully,

Mabel & family

WORSHIP IS ABOUT GOD AND NOT US

There are many precious moments that God wants to use to show Himself powerful to us, even inside of a rushed day. Too often we scurry around with hopes that a more ideal time will come or a quiet place to worship will appear out of nowhere. We long for a heart, mind, body, soul, spirit and truth kind of existence, so we can press in and fully worship the living God. Sometimes our worship just looks very plain and practical. Sometimes it's giving praise in the midst of the busyness rather than waiting for the perfect moment. And that's okay.

Psalm 103:1 says, "Praise the Lord, O my soul." We can use this as a direct command to our own soul-"all my inmost being praise His holy name." I believe this means leaning into worship Him even when we don't feel like it or think that it's possible. God knows full well how to decode our rambling prayers and our awkward worship throughout the day. He is blessed when we press into Him in spite of "life" and He even makes sure that we "forget not all His benefits" (Psalm 103:2).

So your car can become a place of worship, the kitchen a place of divine revelation. The sidewalk that leads to your children's preschool becomes a place to talk to God out loud over them. And because of this, you will find that when you do get to savor Him and linger in His presence in worship, it's just that much richer and sweeter.

PRAISE SINGERS NEEDED

We are looking for enthusiastic persons who want to praise God through music.  You can commit your talents weekly, every other week or monthly; we only ask that you stay committed to your commitment.  Please send an e-mail to music@burbanksda.com or contact Jose.
